Freshwater Fish
The expansion of the fish department is complete! Come by and see the new setup. We are also carrying brackish water fish (partial salt water) if you are looking for something a little different!
We have a nice selection of freshwater fish at City Pets from all parts of the world. Barbs and Gouramis from Asia, Tetras from the Amazon, Cichlids from South America and Africa, Rainbow fish from Australia, and many more species and varieties. We try to keep a good selection of fish in the store, but always call and check availability and prices!

Do you keep a steady supply of red belly piranhas? Do you guys run out pretty often?

The red bellies that we have are adults. They are really nice looking fish! We don’t often have babies- but we keep trying. Feel free to check back often, we do a fish order every 2-3 weeks.

We can usually get Frontosa. Each time we place a fish order, the availability list is different. Please do come by the store or give us a call (816-561-7387) so we can talk in more detail about what you are looking for (male, female, juvenile, breeders etc) and get your contact information. We do special orders on fish all the time!

Do you keep Pearl Scale Goldfish in stock or are they a type that you have to order in individually?

We stock and assortment of fancy goldfish. The pearl scales are one that we commonly have, but what is available to us is always changing. We would be more than happy to order some in for you.

I just wanted to say thank you for calling me before placing your two most recent fish orders. Having the opportunity to purchase any species available versus only what the average fish shoppe has available in their tanks has made you my pet store of choice.
Also compared to any other retailer in KC city pets has the healthiest fish.

Do you ever get any bristlenose plecos? I don’t care what size/color/gender it is, I just want one or a few that aren’t more than $5… Is that possible?
