Marine aquariums…

are full of surprises and mysterious organisms that seem to appear out of no where! My favorite surprising and mysterious organism is Chiton. Chiton are molluscs, in the same family as snails, and we have quite a large one that pops up in our 92-gallon corner tank behind the counter!

Here’s our guy hanging out by some polyps. Walking by the tank you spot him! But walk away for a few minutes, and when you come back he is nowhere to be found! You probably won’t see him for a few more months. :) In your own marine tank at home, you may be discovering new and bizarre creatures for years and years, since the “live rock” is full of crevices hiding all kinds of organisms. Every day can be an adventure of discovery!

If you are interested in creating your own marine environment at home, just stop by the store or call and ask us about what you would need. It is so much fun!

You should always be careful of new critters popping up. The chances of them being a nuisance and hurting or killing something in your reef is a high possibility.

You can see a ton of life at night in a dark tank by shining a red light into the tank and examining the rock work. There is so much life in reef tanks it is mind boggling

Freshwater aquarium fish are the commonest kind of aquarium fish due to the fact that they are way more cost effective, and they are way simpler to maintain. Saltwater fish can be more hard to care for than freshwater aquarium fish. Saltwater aquarium fish have a big variety of different unique aquarium fish species as do freshwater fish. Certain aquarium fish can be classified by their different temperature ranges. Tropical aquarium fish often have more colours, but the cold water fish tank can be common as well and there are some sorts of goldfish possessing a wide selection of colours. You need to watch out as to which fish species that you keep in the same aquarium as some fish may eat other fish.

There are however many non assertive unique aquarium fish that may be in one tank. Most of us that do have an assertive species of fish will sometimes keep that fish in it’s own fish tank alone, with no other fish.
